The Israeli military announced on Friday that it intercepted one of two projectiles launched from Lebanon, with the second landing inside Lebanese territory.
The interception prevented any reported casualties or damage in Israel, as tensions along the border remain high.
Israel’s Defence Minister, Israel Katz, placed full responsibility on Lebanon for the missile attack targeting the Galilee region, warning of a forceful response to any threats against Israel’s security. “We will ensure the security of the residents of Galilee and will act forcefully against any threat,” Katz said in a statement.
Following the attack, Israeli artillery and airstrikes targeted southern Lebanon on Saturday, reportedly killing at least eight people. The strikes have put further strain on a fragile ceasefire that ended a year-long conflict with Hezbollah.
While Israel has not officially attributed the rocket fire to Hezbollah, the Lebanese armed group denied any involvement, stating it had “no link” to the launches and remained committed to the truce.
The situation along the Israel-Lebanon border has been tense, with periodic escalations threatening to destabilise the region. Israel has vowed to maintain its defensive posture while responding decisively to any cross-border threats.
