The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has sanctioned a new logo for the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), a move the party asserts will embody its values in national development. National Publicity Secretary of the NNPP, Mr. Ladipo Johnson, announced in a statement in Abuja on Thursday that the new logo, featuring red-white-red colours, replaces the previous green and blue scheme.

Johnson highlighted that the educational image on the logo underscores the party’s emphasis on education as a key driver of development. He elaborated that the “graduation cap on a book” symbolises the pursuit of knowledge, which the party believes is central to societal growth and advancement. This change, approved at the party’s convention on 6 April 2024, was formally communicated to and approved by INEC on 6 June 2024.

INEC’s description of the logo features a graduation cap on a book with the inscription “Education for All” set against red-white-red horizontal stripes. With this new emblem, the NNPP aims to engage Nigerians on its mission for national renewal and inclusivity. The party reiterated its commitment to merit-based opportunities and education, calling on Nigerians to support its vision for a better society.

The NNPP also dismissed claims of internal factionalism, asserting that dissenters have been expelled and their disputes rejected by courts. The party urged the media to avoid perpetuating misconceptions.

In its letter to the NNPP, INEC confirmed the approval of the new logo, stating:

“The Commission is in receipt of your notice for change of logo by resolution passed at the elective National Convention of your party held on the 6th of April, 2024. In your amended constitution the new logo is described as ‘a graduation cap on a book with inscription “EDUCATION FOR ALL” inserted in the white section of the red, white, red horizontal stripes’. Consequently, the Commission at its meeting held on 6th June, 2024 approved the change of the new logo forthwith.

Please note that the new logo shall serve as the symbol of your party in all correspondence and sponsorship of candidates for election. Accept as always, the assurances of the Commission’s regards.”
