Elisha Abbo, the former senator from the All Progressives Congress (APC) who was dismissed from his position, has stated that Godswill Akpabio was not involved in his ousting from office.
This occurred subsequent to Abbo’s address to reporters at his home in Abuja, following his dismissal, where he attributed his fate to Senator Godswill Akpabio, the Senate President.
The Abuja Division of the Appeals Court had nullified Abbo’s election as the Senator for Adamawa North Senatorial district and substituted him with Amos Yohanna from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
During an interview with ARISE NEWS on Tuesday, Abbo mentioned that the press release they issued earlier was premature, relying on the information they had at the time, however, they have since uncovered a wealth of new information.
He had claimed Akpabio played a role in the court ruling against him, and he also asserted that the Senate President had identified four additional senators for possible removal through legal proceedings.
On the contrary, he has underscored that the senate president has no part in his troubles, stating, “I had a discussion with the senate president, my brother, my colleague, distinguished senator Akpabio, and I am convinced that he is not involved.
“This is because we met yesterday, and let me go by his word ‘Senator Abbo, I swear on my mothers grave that I am not involved in this.’”
“For a number three citizen to come up to tell me that he has sworn on his mother’s grave, a woman that he loves so much, a woman who brought him up after he lost his father at the age of six, I don’t see a reason why he would lie.”
Abbo also spoke of his apology to Akabio after their discussion and expressed his backing for senate president in his efforts to fulfil the needs of his constituents and offered prayers for wisdom in his endeavours.
He also emphasised that there was no plan to impeach senate president Akpabio, but “there was a plan to make him do that which is right.”
Furthermore, Abbo described what had happened with the court ruling as a judicial fraud, and stated, “A judge gave a ruling on a ground that does not exist.”
