In line with the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Dr Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun’s commitment to ensuring public safety during the festive season, the Nigeria Police Force has made substantial progress in tackling criminal activities ahead of the Yuletide celebrations.

On December 10, 2024, operatives of the Lagos State Command arrested four suspected armed robbers identified as Akeem Alabi, Adewale Sogbesan, Emmanuel Izeagbe, and Francis Okoko. The suspects confessed to being part of a robbery syndicate operating around the Costain axis of Lagos.

Similarly, on December 6, 2024, operatives of the Anambra State Command apprehended a suspected armed robber, Miracle Mwakaloi, in Awka. Upon interrogation, the suspect led the police to his apartment, where a search uncovered three AK-47 rifles.

These arrests underscore the effectiveness of the IGP’s directive for enhanced security measures nationwide, particularly on highways, urban centres, and recreational areas prone to criminal activities. The increased police visibility and strategic deployments are part of efforts to curb crimes such as highway robberies, which typically surge during the festive season.

The IGP reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring a safe environment for Nigerians during the Yuletide period through proactive measures, including intensified patrols and community engagement. He urged citizens to cooperate with law enforcement agencies and report any suspicious activities promptly.

The Nigeria Police Force assured the public of its unwavering dedication to safeguarding lives and property, allowing for a peaceful and crime-free festive season.
