The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has condemned the recent attack on the Nganzai Divisional Police Headquarters in Borno State, which resulted in the deaths of two officers and has also urged for the immediate clampdown on the perpetrators. The attack occurred on 9th January 2025 at approximately 12:10 am, claiming the lives of Inspector Bartholomew Kalawa and Corporal Mustapha Huzaifat.
In a press release dated 10th January 2025, the IGP expressed his deepest condolences to the families of the deceased officers, affirming that their sacrifices in the line of duty will not be forgotten. He assured that their benefits and entitlements would be promptly provided to their families.
The IGP has directed the Assistant Inspector-General of Police for Zone 15, AIG Kenechukwu Onwuemelie, to deploy necessary resources and personnel to ensure the attackers are swiftly apprehended. He emphasised collaboration with other security agencies to bring the perpetrators to justice and reinforce security in the region.
Reiterating the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to safeguarding lives and maintaining order, the IGP assured Nigerians that those responsible for disrupting security and endangering officers will face the full force of the law.
As investigations continue, the IGP’s directive underscores the Nigeria Police Force’s dedication to upholding safety and addressing threats to national security.
