President Bola Ahmed Tinubu Visited Maiduguri, to commiserate with the government and the people of Borno State, over the recent devastating flood, that has claimed more than 30 lives and displaced over One Million people, following the collapse of the Alau dam.
Tinubu was received by the state governor, Prof Babagana Zulum and other political stakeholders in the state. The president visited the palace of the Shehu of Borno, His Royal Highness, Abubakar Umar Garba where he commiserated with the monarch and vowed to tackle the challenges of climate change and other environmental issues facing the nation.
The president also said that he rescheduled his official trip to United States of America in order to sympathize with the people of Borno.
The President of the Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, announced the donation of N2 billion Naira to assist those affected by the devastating flood.
Dangote said that while the Presidential Committee on Flood and Disaster, committed N1 billion Naira, the Dangote Foundation would donate an additional N1 billion Naira.
Lawyers of Asue Ighodalo have filed a N20 billion Naira defamatory lawsuit, against Senator Adams Oshiomhole, over comments he made on the Planwell Scheme.
Oshiomole during a campaign rally on Saturday, claimed that Ighodalo, was associated with an alleged pyramid scheme known as Planwell in which numerous Nigerians were defrauded of their hard-earned funds.
Ighodalo, through his counsel, sought an immediate and unqualified retraction and apology for what they say is false, defamatory, and malicious comments which should be published in at least two National Television Networks and three, national newspapers.
A Supernumerary Chief Superintendent of Police, Blessing Agbomhere, last week was arrested, after he accused Governor Godwin Obaseki of embezzlement and undermining democracy in the state.
The Spy police also accused Obaseki and his political ally of being reckless with Edo’s finances, adding that the PDP will loose the forthcoming election.
