West Africa’s leading airline, Air Peace, has received its sixth consecutive International Air Transport Association (IATA) Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) certification, further solidifying its position as a global leader in safety and operational excellence.
The IOSA certification process, conducted by independent external auditors, is one of the aviation industry’s most rigorous assessments, designed to ensure compliance with international safety and operational standards. By achieving this milestone for the sixth time, Air Peace has not only maintained but exceeded global expectations, earning a reputation as a model airline in international aviation.
At the presentation ceremony, Dr. Patrick Fatokun, IATA’s Regional Director for West and Central Africa, lauded Air Peace for consistently meeting and surpassing the industry’s most rigorous safety requirements.
Dr. Fatokun said that Air Peace, regarding global safety standards, stands shoulder to shoulder with aviation giants and the best airlines in the world. He explained that the IOSA certification process, conducted by independent external auditors, is one of the most comprehensive assessments in the aviation industry, ensuring compliance with international safety protocols.
Dr. Fatokun then reiterated that maintaining IOSA certification is no small feat, noting that many airlines fail to sustain compliance after initial success. He encouraged other Nigerian airlines to emulate Air Peace, stating that prioritising safety and operational integrity would not only strengthen the industry but also enhance Nigeria’s global aviation standing.
Air Peace Chairman/CEO, Dr. Allen Onyema, expressed gratitude to the Nigerian government, particularly Minister of Aviation Festus Keyamo, for fostering a supportive environment that enables local airlines to thrive. He called on other airlines to pursue IOSA certification, highlighting its value in validating safety processes and positioning carriers as credible competitors on the global stage.
Onyema referred to the milestone as not just a badge of honour for Air Peace, but a source of pride for Nigeria, as it showcased the country’s ability to produce world-class airlines.
Dr. Onyema also credited Air Peace’s success to God, as well as the relentless efforts of the airline’s staff and management team. He described the certification as a testament to the airline’s unwavering dedication to operational excellence and its commitment to ensuring the safety and comfort of passengers.
