I Don’t Have Conversations With IPOB Leader Nnamdi Kanu: Senator Abaribe

Enyannaya Abaribe

Leader of the minority caucus in the Nigerian Senate Enyinnaya Abaribe has said he does not have conversations with Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the proscribed Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB).

Mr Abaribe and two others had stood as sureties for Kanu before he was granted bail by a Federal High Court in Abuja on April 25, 2017. The IPOB leader however slipped out of Nigeria after soldiers deployed under the Operation ‘Python Dance II’ in the South-East to quell the agitation for the Biafra Republic, invaded his home in Afara-Ukwu, Umuahia, Abia in September 2017.

But speaking to ARISE News on Thursday, Senator Abaribe said he does not have the privilege to speak with Mr Kanu but goes through his lawyers to get messages across to the IPOB leader.

According to the lawmaker Abaribe, the messages sent to Mr Kanu has always been to embrace peace in his pursuit of justice and not violence.
