Hundreds of Namibians Protest Gender-Based Violence

Hundreds of demonstrators in Namibia took to the streets of Windhoek the country’s capital Wednesday demanding an end to violence against women and children as well as calls for justice for Shannon Wasserfall whose suspected remains were discovered this week in Walvis Bay.
Local media The New Era newspaper reports that the body of Wasserfall was discovered in a shallow grave in the second city, Walvis Bay.

The body of Wasserfall, who went missing six months ago, was discovered after police were tipped off by an anonymous text message.

Wasserfall had dropped off her son at a friend’s house before heading out to meet someone.

The Namibian newspaper reports that people have been urged to wear black on Wednesday(today), Thursday, and Friday, to show solidarity with victims of gender-based violence.
