Heirs Insurance Appoints Puri, Iroche as Independent Non-Executive Directors

Heirs Insurance Group (HIG) has announced the appointment of Ibrahim Puri and Sonny Iroche as Independent Non-Executive Directors of its non-life insurance arm, Heirs General.

This strategic move is set to bolster HIG’s governance and leadership team as the company continues its rapid expansion.

Since its inception in 2021, HIG has distinguished itself with a unique combination of digitally driven insurance products and a customer-centric service proposition. The Group’s growth reflects the increasing demand for innovative insurance solutions in Nigeria.

Ibrahim Puri, an accomplished financial services leader, brings over 30 years of experience across banking, fintech, and FMCG sectors. Previously the Group Executive Director at United Bank for Africa, Puri also serves on the boards of RedTech and Nigeria Breweries. His deep understanding of the African financial landscape and expertise in navigating complex market dynamics will be invaluable to Heirs General.

Sonny Iroche, with a career spanning more than four decades, offers extensive experience in finance, investment promotion, and economic advisory. He is the Executive Chairman of Strategic Alliance Promotion Company and has held prominent roles at the Transmission Company of Nigeria and United Capital Plc. Iroche also serves as a special advisor to the Board of Governors of the African Leadership Institute (AFLI).

Tony O. Elumelu, CFR, Chairman of Heirs Holdings, expressed his enthusiasm about the new appointments.

He said “We are pleased to welcome Ibrahim and Sonny to Heirs Insurance Group, and specifically to Heirs General Insurance.  Their exceptional leadership and track record of success will further assist in executing our vision of being Nigeria’s foremost, trusted, and innovative insurance provider.  I know that their expertise will enhance Heirs Insurance Group’s position as an industry leader, delivering exceptional value to all stakeholders.”

As the insurance arm of Heirs Holdings, a leading pan-African investment company founded and led by Tony Elumelu, HIG operates across 24 countries and four continents.

The Group’s rapidly expanding retail footprint and omnichannel digital presence, including Heirs General Insurance Limited, Heirs Life Assurance Limited, and Heirs Insurance Brokers, reflect its commitment to financial inclusion and digital insurance innovation in Nigeria.
