Yahya Sinwar, the Hamas leader and the person believed to be the mastermind behind the deadly October 7, 2023, attacks on Israel, has been killed by Israeli forces in Gaza, according to Israeli officials.
After evading Israeli forces for over a year, Sinwar’s body was identified following DNA testing and a comparison with dental records.
Israeli officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed the successful identification.
Sinwar was believed to be a pivotal figure in orchestrating the attacks, which escalated tensions in the region. While Israel has confirmed his death, Hamas has yet to issue an official statement.
