The governor also authorised the payment of two months’ pension arrears to local government retirees.
This decision comes as part of ongoing efforts to clear outstanding pension liabilities in the state.
The approval follows the Governor’s earlier distribution of N3.5 billion in gratuity cheques to retirees just a month ago, aiming to address the backlog of pension payments.
In an official statement issued by the Governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Yinka Oyebode, the Oyebanji administration reaffirmed its commitment to the welfare of workers and retirees, fulfilling its pledge to settle outstanding entitlements left by previous administrations.
“These payments are in fulfillment of our administration’s promise to prioritise the welfare and wellbeing of workers and retirees.”
The release of funds also includes the settlement of two months’ subvention arrears for Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti, and one month’s outstanding subvention each for Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital (EKSUTH), Bamidele Olomilua University of Education, Science and Technology in Ikere-Ekiti, and the College of Health Science and Technology, Ijero-Ekiti.
Additionally, one month’s subvention for the judiciary has also been approved.
Governor Oyebanji assured workers in the state of his administration’s continued commitment to their welfare and the timely payment of all their entitlements.
“I urge our workers to remain focused on delivering excellent service,” he stated, reinforcing his government’s dedication to shared prosperity and continuity in governance.
