Governor Masari, Emir of Daura, Others Storm Daura To Congratulate Buhari Over Tinubu’s Victory

Political and community leaders in President Muhammadu Buhari’s home state in Katsina have continued to pour into his private residence in Daura to express their happiness, following the emergence of the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as the country’s next president.

Receiving Governor Aminu Bello Masari and the Emir of Daura, Dr. Umar Faruk Umar, who led members of their cabinets on separate visits on Wednesday, President Buhari, in a statement issued by his spokesperson, Mallam Garba Shehu, reiterated what he had often said about the President-elect that “Bola Tinubu truly believes in Nigeria and is genuinely committed to the progress and sustainable future of Nigeria.”

He thanked the electorate for their massive support for the APC in the Presidential and the National Assembly elections, asking them to further mobilize for the upcoming gubernatorial and Houses of Assembly elections.

President Buhari also appreciated the people for supporting him for two terms in office, which he will complete on May 29, 2023.

Earlier in his speech, the Emir said the purpose of the visit to  the President was to congratulate him on the outcome of the elections, and commended him for preserving Nigeria as an indivisible entity.

He described the preservation of the country as historic achievements.

The Emir said he was proud of his people in Daura who did not fail the President and his party in the elections.

“APC won everywhere,” the traditional ruler said.

On his part, Governor Masari expressed happiness that projections by pundits that Katsina would not vote for the APC turned out to be false, saying he was proud of what was achieved.

Speaking with newsmen after the visit, the Katsina State Governor, while commenting on his mission to the country home of the President, and how the President felt about the elections, said, “He (Buhari) is more than delighted first of all for APC to have won this presidential election and in a peaceful manner, like I said in Katsina we had the elections without loss of lives, without any violence recorded and so he is very pleased and happy about it and reports coming from across the nation that has been reaching him had indicated quite a successful election.

“And you know as a President leaving office and getting a successor from his party, you don’t need to ask me if he was happy. The answer is positive and he is more happy than the candidate because this is his election, its a verdict on the performance of his government that is the reason why people voted for the APC”.

Asked how he was preparing for the gubernatorial election in Katsina state next week, Masari said, ” we are getting ready to breed on our successes and also our failures to see those areas we need to address, so that the gubernatorial election will be won by APC. You know that we delivered all the three senatorial seats from Katsina state, we delivered 9 members of House of Representatives out of 15, so you can see that the whole of North West, we are contributing more to the National Assembly than any othet states”.
