Adamawa State Governor, Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has created seven new Emirates and Chiefdoms in the state.
The governor made the announcement on Monday during a state broadcast held at Yola Government House.
“We have created more districts and enacted the legislation for the Adamawa State chiefs (Appointment and Deposition) Law 2024. Consequently, pursuant to Section 5, of the same Law, the following Chiefdoms and Emirates are created:
“The Hoba Chiefdom with headquarters at Hong – 2nd-Class Status Madagali Chiefdom with headquarters at Gulak – 2nd-Class Status;
Michika Chiefdom with headquarters at Michika – 2nd-Class Status; Fufore Emirate with headquarters at Fufore – 2nd-Class Status;
Gombi chiefdom with headquarters at Gombi – 3rd-Class Status; Maiha Emirate with headquarters at Maiha – 3rd-Class Status; Yungur Chiefdom with headquarters at Dumne – 3rd-Class Status.
“Fellow citizens, this creation is already gazetted and now part of our statutory repository. This piece of legislation is expected to reposition the traditional institution and embolden it to smartly play better roles in our affairs; create more centres of dispute arbitration and resolution at the communal level.
“Provide the right governance in all ungoverned spaces within our polity, form more hubs for local intelligence gathering to aid our security system and above all strengthen social cohesion and confer on our people more dignity and pride as citizens.”
While Fintiri congratulated the new Emirates and Chiefdoms, he said, “We remain appreciative of other demands and agitations from other nationalities. I can assure you that this is a continuous process. With the right justification for more demands, we shall positively respond to genuine agitations.”
He also said so far 100,000 households benefited from his Fintiri Wallet, an empowerment aimed at supporting Small Medium Enterprises (SME) in the state with 50 thousands naira each.
