Governor Caleb Mutfwang Reports Improved Security Situation in Plateau State

Governor  Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State on Friday, disclosed that security situation in the state has improved considerably if compared to the situation about a year ago.

Mutfwang, who spoke with journalists after paying a courtesy visit to President Bola Tinubu at his Ikoyi, Lagos residence, stated specifically that things were looking up for the state in recent times.

Explaining the purpose of his visit to the President, the governor said “I came to see the President of the country, who has been very concerned about the security situation on the Plateau. 

“You would recall that 2023, around this period, Plateau State was mourning and he has been so concerned and now that we’ve been able to celebrate Christmas with relative peace and we are marching towards a new year, I needed to brief him on what has been happening on the Plateau and, of course, to discuss other state matters. 

Mutfwang said presently things are looking rosy and getting better by the day on the Plateau especially in the area of security.

His words: “The update on the plateau is that things are getting better. Security-wise, certainly we are better off this year than we were last year and apart from the fact that the security forces on ground are doing their best, we have also invested a lot in technology, we have been able to do a lot of mobilisation of communities and so there is a lot of consciousness that has kept people aware. 

“It hasn’t been 100 per cent, there have been a few incidences here and there, but on the whole I can tell you that things are getting better. Well, with the support of Mr. President, I can assure you that we are not going to take our foot off the pedal. We are going to make sure that we cross the Ts dot the Is as far as security is concerned, and make sure that we make it more difficult for criminality to take place within our borders.

“So what we are doing is to assure our people, give confidence to Nigerians, particularly those who want to come and invest on the Plateau. I want to tell them that the climate is right, the environment is good and I believe that 2025 will be a better year appreciative.”
