The political crisis in Rivers State seems to have further deepened as seven commissioners, who are loyal to ex-governor Nyesom Wike, have resigned from the cabinet of Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
This followed after the two factions of the state House of Assembly held separate sittings on Thursday.
The commissioners who have so far, tendered their resignation are, the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Zacchaeus Adangor (SAN); Commissioner for Works, Dax George-Kelly Alabo; Commissioner for Special Duties, Emeka Woke; Commissioner for Social Welfare and Rehabilitation, Inime Aguma; the Commissioner for Finance, Isaac Kamalu; the Commissioner for Education, Chinedu Mmom and Commissioner for Housing, Gift Worlu.
Their letters which were dated December 14, were addressed to the state Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, through the Secretary to the State Government.
The commissioner for works, Alabo said his resignation is coming in after ‘deep introspection’.
“I hereby resign my appointment as the Commissioner for Works, Rivers State, effective immediately. My decision to resign is anchored on my conscience, personal philosophy, and professional ethics.
“This decision was taken after deep introspection. I appreciate Your Excellency for the opportunity to serve my beloved Rivers State as Commissioner for Works.” He said
