Broadway-style musical ‘The Jewel’ is set to be a major highlight of Eko Hotel’s Easter entertainment lineup.
Inspired by Wole Soyinka’s ‘The Lion and the Jewel’ and Ola Rotimi’s ‘Our Husbands Have Gone Mad Again,’ the production is described as a futuristic adaptation that incorporates advanced stage design and modern theatrical techniques.
In addition to The Jewel, West Africa’s Largest Convention Hotel will introduce Bunnyland, an Easter-themed attraction designed for families. The event will feature activities such as egg-painting stations, an Easter egg hunt, and other games. A special golden egg hunt is also planned.
The venue will also host AY Live, the annual comedy and music show featuring top Nigerian comedians and musicians. AY Live has been a mainstay of Easter celebrations at the Eko Convention Centre, drawing large audiences each year.
The Hotel has positioned The Jewel as one of its flagship productions for the Easter season, with organisers urging theatre lovers to secure tickets early due to limited seating and also noting available discounts including 10% off for students with a valid ID for the 3 PM show and a 20% discount for groups purchasing 20 or more tickets.
With Lagos’ theatre scene continuing to grow, The Jewel is expected to attract both local and international audiences, further cementing the city’s reputation as a hub for live entertainment. The ticket prices include N30,000 for stalls (regular) and N50,000 orchestra (VIP) at eventporte.com/thejewel/
Eko Hotel has a history of hosting elaborate holiday events, notably its annual Tropical Christmas Wonderland, known as Prideland. Launched five years ago, this initiative was designed to provide a festive experience that encourages Nigerians to celebrate locally.
In December 2024, Eko Hotel unveiled Prideland 3, transforming the venue into a tropical Christmas wonderland. The festivities commenced with a grand tree-lighting ceremony, featuring live music and performances that embodied the joy and togetherness of the holiday season.
As part of Prideland 3, the hotel introduced the Theatre of Lights, offering previews of live theatre productions scheduled to run from December 20th to January 2nd. This initiative showcased Eko Hotel’s commitment to blending African traditions with universal Christmas themes, providing guests with immersive experiences that celebrate both heritage and innovation.
