Fury vs Wilder III: Fight Called Off Following 10 Covid Cases in Briton’s Camp

The trilogy fight between Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder in Las Vegas will be postponed until October due to an outbreak of Covid-19 in the champion’s camp, according to reports in the US.
The fight for Fury’s WBC heavyweight championship was set for three weeks’ time on July 24 but was postponed after the Briton tested positive for coronavirus.
The BBC reports that Fury tested positive on Thursday and after discussions with medical experts the fight was called off – it is likely to be rescheduled for October.
Reports in the US also suggest that at least 10 people in Fury’s Vegas gym have caught Covid-19.
Promoter Eddie Hearn revealed Dillian Whyte is prepared to step in as a late replacement and fight Wilder instead.
It is understood Fury has had his first coronavirus vaccination but not his second jab.
Boxing insider Teddy Atlas said: “It looks like Fury actually has Covid. “He had one shot. He didn’t get both shots, both vaccines. And, it looks like he has the Covid,” he said.
Wilder and his team do not believe Fury really has Covid and think he is lying.
Fury beat Wilder to become WBC champion in February 2020 – 14 months after the pair shared a thrilling draw in Los Angeles.
Neither man has fought since Fury’s victory in Las Vegas.
