The annexing of the Nigeria Anti-doping Committee by the Ministry of Youth and Sports has been identified as the reason behind the disqualification of some of the country’s athletes from the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
Former Minister of Sports Solomon Dalong stated this on Thursday when he featured on an ARISE News programme, The Morning Show.
He said the ministry had impeded the operations of the organisation which led to the confusion where athletes who did not meet the requirements for participation at the games were ferried to Tokyo and were later disqualified.
