Former Aviation Minister Sirika, Brother Arraigned, Deny Wrongdoing in Alleged N19.4bn Fraud

Hadi Sirika is accused of using his position as then Aviation Minister to confer unfair advantage upon Enginos Nigeria Limited.

Former Aviation Minister Hadi Sirika; his brother, Ahmad Sirika; and a firm, Enginos Nigeria Limited, have been arraigned at a High Court of the Federal Capital Territory in Garki Abuja. They are arraigned on a fresh 10-count charge bordering on a N19.4 contract fraud.

The defendants denied any wrongdoing when they took their plea before presiding judge Suleiman Belgore in the case instituted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

Hadi Sirika is accused of using his position as then Aviation Minister to confer unfair advantage upon Enginos Nigeria Limited whose alter ego is Ahmad Sirika, to influence the award of contract for the construction of a terminal building at the Katsina Airport, and several other contracts.

After taking their plea, the defendants were subsequently admitted to bail in the same conditions as a similar case holding before another judge of the High Court of the FCT, Sylvanus Oriji where Sirika his daughter and son-in-law were admitted to bail in the sum of N100million each along with two sureties, among others.

Meanwhile, May 28 has been fixed for the commencement of trial of Hadi and Ahmad Sirika.
