Washington state authorities reported on Monday that five people were killed in a shooting at a home near Seattle, and a 15-year-old boy has been taken into custody for the killings.

According to the King County Sheriff’s department, three children and two adults were among the victims. A girl who lived at the residence was also injured.

Sheriff’s department spokesperson Mike Mellis stated that the suspect was apprehended without incident by deputies.

Authorities have not yet confirmed if all involved were part of the same family, and investigators are still working to determine the motive behind the violence.

The sheriff’s department noted that deputies responded to multiple reports of gunfire early Monday at a home in Fall City, located about 10 miles east of Seattle.

“A neighbour with some medical training was able to administer first aid before first responders arrived,” according to the department.

The boy was booked into the King County juvenile detention facility and is expected to make his first court appearance on Tuesday or Wednesday, the sheriff’s department added.
