Fireboy, Wizkid Win Big at 2021 Headies Awards

Nigerian musician Fireboy won five awards at the 14th edition of the Headies, Nigeria’s premier music awards show.

The musician won Best R&B Single, Best R&B Album, Best Pop Award and Best Headies Revelation to make him the artiste to take home the most awards on the night.

Superstar Wizkid won Artiste of the year and Viewer’s Choice Award. Songstress Simi also went home with two awards including the newly created Songwriter of the Year and Song of the Year for pop hit, ‘Duduke.’ New-kid-on-the-block, Omah Lay won the coveted Next Rated award, which comes with a new SUV.

Afro-pop superstars Davido and Burna Boy won no awards on the night.

The awards were held via virtual and live media due to Covid-19 restrictions. A lot of the show had been pre-recorded and the live event, featuring nominees held at Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.

There were performances from BBNaija 2020 winner, Laycon, alongside, DJ Neptune and Joeboy, Fireboy DML and the Cavemen.
