Fashola Decries Nigeria’s Dependence on Foreign Vaccines – Trending with Ojy Okpe

Veteran Actor Cbiwetalu Agu, who has been in the custody of the Department of State services for nearly one week, for allegedly wearing clothing reflecting the colours of the Biafran flag and inciting members of the public, was released on Tuesday after the intervention of Mike Ozekhome chambers upon appeal by the Nigerian Guild of Actors.

Meanwhile, Nigeria’s female basketball team D’Tigress accused the Minister of Youth and Sports Sunday Dare of diverting $100,000 dollars that was donated to the team . The players also accused the president of the Nigeria Basketball Federation Musa Kida of not paying them their allowances.

In another development, Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, has come under fire on social media for saying that Nigeria cannot continue to depend on other nations for vaccines during outbreak of pandemics. The minister while speaking at a news conference organised by the Nigeria Institute of Medical Research Foundation, which he chairs, admitted there was a need to develop human capacity in medical research to proffer solutions to existing diseases of public health concern and other eventual pandemics like COVID-19.

An appointment letter that is now circulating on social media, issued by the Vice President of the University of Uyo’s Student Union, Blessing Jaja, reveals that she approved the appointment of 18 aides for the smooth running of activities in her office. The letter which has since gone viral has generated a debate on social media with many saying that students are already emulating the political ethos in Nigeria
