In another development, Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, has come under fire on social media for saying that Nigeria cannot continue to depend on other nations for vaccines during outbreak of pandemics. The minister while speaking at a news conference organised by the Nigeria Institute of Medical Research Foundation, which he chairs, admitted there was a need to develop human capacity in medical research to proffer solutions to existing diseases of public health concern and other eventual pandemics like COVID-19.
