On Wednesday, the supreme court restrained the Federal Government’s move to ban the use of the old naira notes from February 10, 2023.
Since the ruling, there has been criticism directed towards the Supreme Court’s decision to halt the cash swap. Lawyers have supported and faulted this decision.
A Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Fidelis Oditah on AEISE NEWSNIGHT had alleged that it was a ploy by the APC government to amass cash for the 2023 election.
Also criticizing this was Dele Farotimi in an interview with ARISE NEWS Morning Show on Thursday. Farotimi reacted to the supreme court ruling halting the enforcement of the cash swap saying that the “Supreme Court ruling is either incompetence or corruption.”
He further stated that it is as a result of the decadence of the Nigerian judiciary which is caused by the corruption that has taken over the nation which thereby makes it “almost impossible to get justice.”
Farotimi was unequivocal in his belief that the Supreme Court gave an order where it has no jurisdiction.
