Farotimi: All Alliances Formed By Political Class Not In the Interest Of Nigerians

Activist and lawyer, Dele Farotimi, on Monday discussed the foreign consultations made by the political ruling class in Nigeria the Morning Show.

He stated that their activities are borne out of selfish interests and have nothing to do with Nigeria or Nigerians as they claimed.

“All the alliances that have been formed by the Nigerian ruling class or the political class as you would like to describe them have never been in the interests of the Nigerian people. It’s almost always about their own selfish interests. So, Wike, in fact all of them can sit down and be meeting, but the Nigerian people are the last persons that they’re considering in their consultations.”

He stressed that the government’s urgent response to solving the nation’s aviation issues in comparison to their negligence of the extended ASUU strike, among many other pressing issues, is proof that the government is more concerned about their desires than that of the people.

In his words, “Recently, I believe it was Emirates that first decided it wasn’t coming to Nigeria, because it couldn’t repatriate their funds, the speed with which the Nigerian government has sought a resolution of that enpasse should tell you exactly what matters to them.

“How many Nigerians fly? Then consider the number of Nigerians who have been affected by ASUU strike for the last five months or more, then consider all the other things that have plagued Nigerians but have never really mattered to those who claim to be our leaders.”

Furthermore, Mr. Farotimi urged Nigerians to pay close attention to the actions of their leaders and come to terms with the fact that the foreign consultations of our leaders are not to benefit Nigerians but to benefit those ruling Nigerians.

He explicitly stated, “Let us first of all, strip these lies away and focus on the truth, these junkets have nothing to do with the Nigerian people. It is essentially about their own unenlightened selfish interests and they can dress it in any garb that they care to, it is up to us not to buy these lies but to focus on the evidences of our own senses which should suggest to us by now that our interests, simply do not matter.”
