#EndSARS: Senate Asks Buhari to Address Nigerians Immediately

The Nigerian Senate on Tuesday asked the country’s President Muhammadu Buhari to as a matter of urgency address the nation on reforms being embarked upon to end police brutality.

The Senate has also ordered the Nigerian police to henceforth accompany peaceful protesters when necessary and called on the thousands of #EndSARS protesters to end all demonstrations nationwide as the government works hard to meet their demands.

On resumption of plenary today, the President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan had called for an emergency closed-door session to critically assess the ongoing #EndSARS protests rocking the country.

The #EndSARS demonstrations now in its 13th day have seen thousands of Nigerian youths protesting against the disbanded Special Anti-robbery Squad (SARS) of the Nigeria Police Force. They are demanding better welfare for police officers and improved governance.
