#EndSARS: Protesters Hold Candlelight Processions in Lagos and Abuja for Victims of Police Brutality

Protesters across Nigeria held candlelight services Friday night to honour young Nigerians killed by members of the police unit, Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).

In Lagos, massive crowds gathered around the Alausa area of the state and the Lekki Toll Gate, which have been the main converging points for those who have been demanding justice for the deceased. Relatives of victims spoke about the death of their loved ones, and their names were read out in unison.

In the capital, Abuja, protesters held a candlelight procession at the Unity Fountain, in honour of victims of extra-judicial killings.

The protesters started the session with Christians and Muslims praying for the souls of those that have been killed by men of SARS.

There were similar scenes in the city of Port Harcourt.

It’s the tenth day since the protests against police brutality began. Despite the disbandment of SARS and other measures introduced by the government, demonstrations have gathered momentum as protesters insist on further reforms.
