#EndSARS: Delta State Judicial Panel Calls for Submission of Complaints

The Delta State judicial panel of inquiry investigating allegations of police brutality and extrajudicial killings has called on citizens to come forward with complaints and memoranda stating the facts of alleged complaints of police brutality and related extrajudicial killings within the state.

Secretary of the panel Omamuzo Erebe in a press release said the judicial panel has three months from the date of its inauguration to submit its report and has the following terms of reference;

“The panel is to receive and investigate complaints of police brutality and related extrajudicial killings.

“The judicial panel will also evaluate the evidence presented as well as other surrounding circumstances and draw conclusions as to the validity of the complaints. The judicial panel will also recommend compensation and other remedial measures where appropriate,” Erebe said.

According to Erebe, the Judicial Panel of Inquiry will hold public sittings at the Multi-Door Courthouse Complex, Asaba the state capital, and Magistrate Court 1, Warri on dates to announced later.

Erebe said all memoranda should be received by the judicial panel of inquiry not later than Wednesday 18th November 2020.
