Former Deputy National Secretary of the People’s Democratic Party, Dr. Emmanuel Agbo, has debunked the claim that the continued stay of Iyorchia Ayu as party chairman goes against the rules set forth in the party’s charter.
According to Dr. Agbo, the PDP constitution contains no clause requiring a chairman to step down because they are from the same zone as the presidential candidate.
He explained that it has always been a conventional affair, in which members of the party agree on.
He clarified, however, that while he is not in favour of or against the chairman’s resignation, winning the 2023 presidential elections should be of the biggest priority.
In light of this, he advised that the leaders and members of the PDP must be ready to make political sacrifices that will earn the party victory.
Furthermore, he warned that party members should learn to voice their concerns about party matters within the party rather than through the media.
