Eminem has apologised to Rihanna on his newly released album for “siding” with her ex-boyfriend Chris Brown, who assaulted her in 2009.
The rapper also fired back at Snoop Dogg for not including him on his top 10 rappers list.
The record, which has been rumoured for the last few days, saw Eminem apologising for a decade-old song that leaked in 2019 on which he said that he “sided with Chris Brown” over his ex-girlfriend Rihanna. Brown pleaded guilty to felony assault in 2009, after assaulting Rihanna following an appearance at that year’s Grammy Awards.
On the song ‘Zeus’, he raps: “And wholeheartedly apologies Rihanna for that song that leaked / I’m sorry, Rih, it wasn’t meant to cause you grief / But regardless it was wrong of me.”
At the time of the initial leak last year, Eminem’s spokesperson Dennis Dehenny issued a response claiming that the track had been written over a decade ago. He said: “This is a leak of something that’s over 10 years old. After Eminem recorded it, he scrapped it, and rewrote it.”
Eminem and Rihanna have collaborated several times, including on 2010’s US number one single Love the Way You Lie, as well as Numb on her 2012 album Unapologetic and The Monster from The Marshall Mathers LP 2 in 2013.
On the same track, ‘Zeus’, Eminem called out Snoop Dogg for leaving him off his list of the top 10 rappers of all time.
Earlier this year, Snoop publicly stated that he didn’t think Eminem was one of the greatest rappers of all time.
Eminem shot back, rapping: “As far as squashing beef I’m used to people knocking me / But just not in my camp / And diplomatic as I’m tryin’ to be last thing I need is Snoop doggin’ me.
“Man, Dogg, you was like a damn god to me / man not really, I had dog backwards,” he continued.
The rapper’s new album, ‘Music to Be Murdered By – Side B,’ features collaborations with Dr Dre, Ty Dolla $ign, DJ Premier, and Skylar Gray.
