Elon Musk Sends $44 Million To Pro-Trump Super PAC, Ramping Up Election Support

Elon Musk, in early October, contributed approximately $44 million to his pro-Trump political action committee, as shown in federal records released Thursday, intensifying his financial backing for the Republican candidate ahead of the 5th November election.

America PAC, which focuses on mobilising voters in pivotal swing states, reported expenditures exceeding $47 million in the same period. The Trump campaign, reliant on external support for voter engagement, is significantly bolstered by Musk’s super PAC, underscoring his influence in what is anticipated to be a closely contested race against Vice President Kamala Harris.

This latest donation follows an earlier disclosure indicating Musk’s America PAC received about $75 million from him between July and September.

Meanwhile, Trump’s campaign spent upwards of $88 million on advertising in the first half of October, leaving $36 million on hand for the final campaign stretch. Donations during this period added another $16 million to the campaign’s resources, as per a separate Federal Election Commission filing.

Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign, which has recently outpaced Trump in both fundraising and spending, dedicated over $130 million to ads in early October, with $97 million raised and a $119 million balance as of October 16.

Another conservative PAC, the Sentinel Action Fund, reported receiving $2.3 million from Musk. With these substantial contributions, Musk joins a select group of high-profile Republican donors, including Timothy Mellon and Miriam Adelson.

In its bid to boost support for Trump, America PAC has implemented a controversial $1 million daily prize draw for those signing its online petition, limited to voters in key battleground states. CNN reported that the Justice Department cautioned America PAC, suggesting the giveaways may conflict with federal law, though legal experts are divided on whether Musk’s efforts could breach regulations regarding paid voter registration initiatives.
