Ekopages Hosts Charity Match To Raise Awareness On Climate Change And SDGs

In a spirited blend of sportsmanship and social advocacy, Ekopages hosted a PlayforthePlanet charity and novelty match to raise awareness about climate change and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Held under the theme of promoting sustainable development through sports, the event featured four teams going head-to-head, including a celebrity lineup with names like Praiz, Shoddy, and influencers Lawrenz, Onitolo, Dikeh, and Chuey Chu. After an intense match, Team Influencers claimed victory and were crowned Eco-Champions.

This event also marked the official launch of Ekopages’ SDG Literacy Drive 3.0, a flagship initiative aimed at educating children across Lagos in schools, sports academies, and marginalised communities about climate action and the SDGs. The goal is to empower children to become change agents within their local communities.

The PlayforthePlanet event, supported by partners like F8ballers Africa, WAKAPASS, TESDA, and The Pollination Project, highlighted the effectiveness of using unconventional but effective means like sports to drive climate awareness.

Zipa Tenn, the founder of Ekopages, emphasised the importance of the event, stating, “At Ekopages, we believe that creating a sustainable future begins with educating the next generation, and what better way to make a lasting impact than by connecting with the community through sports? The PlayforthePlanet match is only the beginning. As we launch the SDG Literacy Drive 3.0, we are empowering 10,000 children to become agents of change in their local communities.”

The SDG Literacy Drive 3.0 will engage children through impactful activities like book readings, library donations, tree planting, and hands-on sustainable projects. By focusing on environmental stewardship and climate action, the campaign seeks to motivate children to take meaningful steps towards building greener communities. Ekopages aims to reach at least 10,000 children in Lagos, bridging the literacy gap while fostering a commitment to the SDGs.

With ambitious goals and strategic partnerships, Ekopages is positioning Nigeria’s youth at the forefront of climate action, encouraging them to lead a new era of sustainable development.

Ekopages is an Education for Sustainability (ESD) platform that improves foundational literacy in children across Nigeria while imparting them with tech-enabled green education to champion sustainable development in their communities. It is a publishing outfit that immerses children into the act of environmental sustainability with books, stories and publications. The brand trains kids into becoming eco-soldiers, thereby leading to a protected and sustainable environment for everyone.
