Ekiti Chief Judge Oyewole Adeyeye Passes Away

The Chief Judge of Ekiti State, Hon Justice Oyewole Adeyeye, has passed away. A source confirmed that the judge died in the early hours of Tuesday.

Reports state that Adeyeye died after a prolonged battle with an undisclosed illness.

The International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) in Ekiti State has extended condolences to his family. In their message, FIDA expressed “deep sorrow” and submitted “to the will of God,” praying for the family, judiciary, and Ekiti people to have the strength to endure the “irreparable loss.”

The statement read, “With deep sorrow in our hearts and in total submission to the will of God, FIDA Ekiti consoles with the family of the Chief Judge of Ekiti State, Hon Justice Oyewole Adeyeye on his call to glory. May He find rest with his maker. I pray that God grants the family, the Judiciary and the people of Ekiti State, the grace to bear this irreparable loss. Adieu, great one.”

Recall that in July 2023, Adeyeye sustained injuries after part of a state high court complex collapsed.

Justice Adeyeye, born in 1960 in Araromi Ugbesi, Ekiti East Local Government Area, was called to the bar in 1986. He began his legal career as a state counsel in the Civil Service of the former Ondo State, later joining the Ekiti State Judiciary Service Commission soon after Ekiti was created in 1996.

Elevated to a judge in the Ekiti State High Court in 2002, he also served on various election petition tribunals throughout his distinguished career.
