EKEDC Experiences Prepaid Meter Platform Downtime, Customers Unable To Recharge

EKEDC has experienced prepaid meter platform downtime with customers unable to recharge, as technical teams work frantically to resolve it.

The Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) has announced that it is currently experiencing downtime on all its prepaid meter platforms, leaving customers unable to recharge their meters.

In a statement on Wednesday, the company apologised for the inconvenience and assured customers that efforts are being made to resolve the issue as soon as possible.

“We are currently experiencing service downtime on all our prepaid platforms, which has impacted your ability to recharge your prepaid meter,” EKEDC said.

“We sincerely apologize for this as we continue to work with our technical partners to get it resolved soonest. Please, bear with us.”

Manager of Corporate Communications and Strategy at EKEDC, Babatunde Lasaki, said that an announcement will be made on all social media platforms when the problem is resolved.

The service downtime, which began on Tuesday, has affected customers in several locations in Lagos, including Lagos Island, Ikoyi, Victoria Island, Lekki, Ajah, Ibeju-Lekki, Epe, and Badagry, among others.

EKEDC serves approximately 60 percent of Lagos state and some parts of Ogun state, including Agbara.

Affected customers have taken to social media to express their frustration with the prolonged downtime.
