EFCC Chairman Olukoyede Launches Probe Into Officers’ Assault of Female Worker at Lagos Hotel

EFCC has initiated an investigation after some of the commission’s officers allegedly assaulted a female worker in a Lagos hotel.

Ola Olukoyede, the chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has taken swift action after a disturbing video surfaced online showing two agency officers allegedly assaulting a female worker at the Regional Hotel in Ojo, Lagos.

The incident, which reportedly occurred during an early morning operation on June 27, sparked public outrage prompting Olukoyede to order the immediate arrest of the involved officers.

In response to the incident, he announced the formation of a disciplinary team tasked with investigating the matter thoroughly.

Dele Oyewale, spokesperson for the EFCC, confirmed in a statement on Sunday that the investigative team, comprising members from the promotion and disciplinary committee as well as the department of ethics and integrity, will convene on Monday.

“Mr Ola Olukoyede has raised a Disciplinary Team to look into the case of two errant officers of the Commission who allegedly assaulted a female staff of Regional Hotel, Ojo, Lagos,” the statement read.

The statement stressed that the EFCC remains committed to upholding professionalism and integrity in its operations, promising that “no stone will be left unturned in getting the officers to account for their unprofessional conduct.”
