DSS Confirms Plot For Interim Government, Promises Hitch-Free Handover

Nigeria’s Department Of State Services (DSS) has uncovered and confirmed a plot for an interim government in Nigeria, as well as uncovered key players in this plot.

In a press release that was published on Wednesday evening, the DSS, through Dr Peter Afunanya, the Public Relations Officer of the DSS, confirmed that there were indeed plans by some key players to usher in an Interim Government in the federation. Dr. Peter wrote that the service deemed the plot as “not only an aberration but a mischievous way to set aside the constitution and undermine civil rule as well as plunge the country into an avoidable crisis.”

The DSS exposed the some of the steps to the plot that was to be executed by the unidentified planners, saying that the planners had “weighed various options, which include, among others, to sponsor endless violent mass protests in major cities to warrant a declaration of State of Emergency. Another is to obtain frivolous court injunctions to forestall the inauguration of new executive administrations and legislative houses at the Federal and State levels.”

The DSS then declared their support for President Buhari and said that they will work hand in hand with him, along with their sister security agencies, to ensure a smooth handover come 29th of May. Following this display of support, a strong warning was issued to those who planned to disrupt the democracy of the nation. Dr. Peter wrote, “While its monitoring continues, the DSS will not hesitate to take decisive and necessary legal steps against these misguided elements to frustrate their obnoxious intentions.”

Concluding the statement, the DSS then addressed the stakeholders in this matter- notably mentioning the judicial authorities, the media, and the Civil Society, asking them “to be watchful and cautious to avoid being used as instruments to subvert peace and stability of the nation.”
