Dr. Dre has landed his first win in his ongoing legal battle with estranged wife Nicole Young.
A judge on Thursday ruled that the music mogul will not have to pay Young $6.5 million in expenses following their divorce.
Young had asked the court for $1.5 million in security fees and an extra $5million in lawyers fees, but the judge rejected her requests because she had already fired a security team Dre had employed and was paying for.
Their split has been messy and well-documented, with the latest ruling a victory for Dre’s team.
In September, it was reported that Nicole was seeking $2million a month in spousal support.
She has also accused Dre, also known as Andre Romelle Young, of hiding valuable assets after they split, including trademarks for his stage name and “The Chronic” album, according to tabloid news site, TMZ.
However, the rapper’s lawyer, Laura Wasser, said he is still willing to pay all of Young’s expenses pending the divorce, including a security detail.
The former couple revealed they were divorcing in June 2020 with Nicole citing irreconcilable differences as the reason behind the split. They got married in 1996 and have two children together.
