Dele Momodu, the CEO of Ovation International, and a member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), has said that Nigerians should tread carefully with the judiciary in order to allow them to make an unbiased decision on the winner of the 2023 presidential elections.
In an interview with ARISE NEWS on Saturday, Momodu said that attempts and statements had been made by several people in a bid to stampede the judiciary into making bias judgements. He said, “INEC has declared someone as the winner, that is okay for now, but only the law court can give the final seal on it, and we must respect the judiciary. We must allow the judiciary to conclude its work without anybody attempting to stampede them into a predetermined judgement…As a law-abiding citizen, I will allow the court to judge who won or who lost.”
Momodu went on to say that the winner of the election did not matter, saying, “I don’t care who wins, as long as the right man wins.” He said that as long as it could be proved that the previously concluded elections were not conducted according to the law, it will be fine by him.
When he was asked if he will congratulate Bola Ahmed Tinubu, he said “I have nothing personal against Asiwaju. I am closer to Asiwaju than most of the people shouting today, but I am maintaining my principle.” He then said that his principle is to represent his party and Atiku Abubakar solidly. He said that it was unfair of people to ask him what he had against Tinubu, when he was simply being a principled person by supporting his party. He said he would congratulate Tinubu if the court ruled him to be the winner of the election.
Momodu finally went on to say, “We have carried our rascality too far.” He also said, “We need the intervention of god to bring us back from disaster, because people are bottling up a lot of anger, a lot of tension, and that is not good.”
