Davido Carpets Social Media User Who Criticised His Uncle, Osun Governor Adeleke, For Dancing In Church

Davido has slammed a social media user who criticised his uncle, Governor Adeleke, for wearing a soutane dancing in church.

Afrobeats superstar Davido has come to the defence of his uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State, following criticism over the governor’s religious affiliation. The controversy erupted when a social media user questioned Governor Adeleke’s religious identity after a video surfaced showing him dancing in a church while wearing a white soutane.

The critic, identified as Governor Ifedolapo Osun on X (formerly Twitter), expressed regret over supporting Adeleke during the 2022 gubernatorial election, implying that the Muslim community had been misled about the governor’s faith. “May God Forgive All Of Us Who sold Adeleke to Osun as a Muslim. Because, WTF,” Ifedolapo wrote, alongside the controversial video.

Davido, known for his outspoken nature, swiftly responded to the criticism in a post on X that has now been deleted. The ‘Timeless’ hitmaker accused Ifedolapo of harbouring personal grievances, revealing that the critic had been “begging me for jobs and money for three years.” To substantiate his claim, Davido shared a screenshot of an alleged message from Ifedolapo requesting financial assistance to purchase a motorcycle.

The singer suggested that Ifedolapo’s sudden change of heart stemmed from unmet personal expectations rather than genuine concern for governance. “Brother stfu u we’re in my DMs for 3 years begging for job and money…. Soon as u didn’t ur way … gov position is not ur birth right, ur constantly here bashing my and my family! STOP IT,” Davido wrote in the now-deleted post.

Governor Ademola Adeleke, elected in 2022, comes from a politically prominent family. His late older brother, Isiaka Adeleke, served as the second governor of Osun State from 1992 to 1993.
