The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has affirmed its capacity to meet Nigeria’s nationwide demand for petroleum products, reassuring stakeholders of its ability to supply petrol, diesel, and aviation fuel without interruptions.
In a statement released by the Group Chief Branding and Communications Officer at Dangote, Anthony Chiejina, the refinery highlighted its operational readiness to load up to 2,900 trucks per day and handle additional distribution by sea, underscoring a robust infrastructure capable of sustaining national fuel requirements.
“We would like to emphasise that we can meet the nation’s demand for all petroleum products, including petrol, diesel, and aviation fuel,” the refinery announced. “At present, we can load 2,900 trucks per day and we have also been evacuating petroleum products by sea.”
This statement was prompted by recent reports suggesting that members of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) encountered challenges accessing products from Dangote Refinery.
Clarifying these claims, the refinery noted that it currently has no direct business arrangements with IPMAN, as payments made by the association have reportedly been directed to the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL).
According to Chiejina, there is ample supply available to meet IPMAN’s needs, provided members register and establish a formal business relationship with the refinery. “We advise IPMAN to register with us and make direct payment as we have more than enough petroleum products to satisfy the needs of their members,” Chiejina stated, adding that such arrangements would ensure smooth transactions and avoid complications.
The Dangote Petroleum Refinery further clarified that it has no direct business dealings or financial transactions with the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN).
The refinery said that it has not received any payments from IPMAN for the purchase of refined petroleum products, despite ongoing discussions between the two entities.
“The Dangote Petroleum Refinery wishes to clarify that it has not received any payments from the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) to purchase refined petroleum products,” the company stated.
“Although discussions are ongoing with IPMAN, it is misleading to suggest that they are experiencing difficulties loading refined products from our Petroleum Refinery, as we currently have no direct business dealings with them,” the statement noted.
The refinery emphasised that any payments mentioned were made through the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC), asserting that “NNPCL has neither approved nor authorised us to release our Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) to IPMAN.”
