Dangote Urges FG To End Subsidy + Peter Obi Condemns Edo Election + Benin Oba Receives Okpebholo – Trending With Ojy Okpe

The Edo State election has taken center stage, after the declaration of Monday Okpebolor of the all progressives congress, winner of the governorship election.

Over the weekend, the Oba of Benin, who has had a long drawn battle with the incumbent governor, Godwin Obaseki, received Okpebolo and other members of the All Progressives Congress at his palace.

The Oba thanked all parties for their peaceful conduct during elections and expressed confidence that Okpebolor’s administration will have respect for the traditional institution in Edo State.

The Oba of Benin, back in 2020 had pleaded with Governor Obaseki to make peace with Adams’s Oshiomole so as to quench the political tension in the state, he also advised Obaseki to start preparing for life after office.

The governorship candidate of the Labour Party, Olumide Akpata who was on our nightly news program, Prime Time, alleged vote buying and manipulation of results during the election. He claimed that the election was a transaction.

The presidential candidate of Labour Party in the 2023 general election, Peter Obi, has condemned the outcome of the September 21 Edo governorship election. Obi said what happened in Edo State could not be described as an election.

All Progressives Congress National Chairman, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has vowed to use the party’s successful Edo State governorship election template to win Ondo State’s November 16 poll and future elections in Anambra and other South East states. Ganduje made this declaration in Abuja while celebrating Senator Monday Okpebholo’s victory with the Edo state election situation room members.

The founder of Dangote group, Aliko Dangote, has urged the federal government to stop the payment of petrol subsidy.

The billionaire philanthropist made the comment during an interview with Bloomberg on Monday, adding that subsidies allows for manipulation of petrol pricing.

He also stated that if the NNPC refineries begin to work, Nigeria would be the biggest exporter of petroleum products in Africa.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who was represented by the Head of Service of the Federation at 2024 Annual National Management Conference of the Nigerian Institute of Management on Monday, said that despite the pains occasioned by the removal of fuel subsidy, and other economic reforms introduced by his administration, Nigerians will soon start reaping the benefits of the sacrifices.
