The Edo State election has taken center stage, after the declaration of Monday Okpebolor of the all progressives congress, winner of the governorship election.
Over the weekend, the Oba of Benin, who has had a long drawn battle with the incumbent governor, Godwin Obaseki, received Okpebolo and other members of the All Progressives Congress at his palace.
The Oba thanked all parties for their peaceful conduct during elections and expressed confidence that Okpebolor’s administration will have respect for the traditional institution in Edo State.
The Oba of Benin, back in 2020 had pleaded with Governor Obaseki to make peace with Adams’s Oshiomole so as to quench the political tension in the state, he also advised Obaseki to start preparing for life after office.
The governorship candidate of the Labour Party, Olumide Akpata who was on our nightly news program, Prime Time, alleged vote buying and manipulation of results during the election. He claimed that the election was a transaction.
