Country Singer Ingrid Andress Apologises For Drunken US National Anthem Performance

Ingrid Andress has publicly apologised for singing the US national anthem at a Major League Baseball event while drunk.

Country singer Ingrid Andress has publicly apologised and admitted to being intoxicated while delivering a widely criticised performance of the US national anthem at a Major League Baseball event.

Andress’s off-key rendition of “The Star-Spangled Banner” at the Home Run Derby in Texas on Monday quickly went viral, with many describing it as “painful” and “one of the worst national-anthem renditions ever.”

In a candid social media post, the Grammy-nominated artist confessed, “I was drunk last night. I’m checking myself into a facility today to get the help I need. That was not me last night. I apologise to MLB, all the fans, and this country I love so much for that rendition.” She added a touch of humor, saying, “I’ll let y’all know how rehab is – I hear it’s super fun.”

The backlash Andress received after the performance was swift, with headlines like “America Unites Over New All-Time Worst National-Anthem Performance” from The Daily Beast. Social media was abuzz with comments, and a clip of Philadelphia Phillies third baseman Alec Bohm seemingly smirking during the performance added to the chatter.

Despite the criticism, Andress received an outpouring of support from fellow artists and fans. Singer and actress Lucy Hale offered her sympathy, writing, “I’m so sorry you’re going through this. Sending you a lot of my thoughts. Take care of you and you’re going to come out of this so much stronger.” Country star Martina McBride sent “lots of love and positivity,” encouraging Andress with “You got this.” Singer-songwriter Julia Michaels also expressed her support, saying, “Love you, girl. I’m sorry you’re going through this. And I’m sorry the world can be so cruel. Here for you XX.”
