Edinson Cavani came from the bench to rescue a stunning win for Manchester United as Southampton threw away a two-goal lead at St Mary’s on Sunday.
Ralph Hasenhuttl’s Southampton were coasting as they headed into half-time in control thanks to goals from Jan Bednarek and James Ward-Prowse, while David de Gea went off injured at the interval to add to United’s woes.
However, United rallied as Bruno Fernandes finished just before the hour-mark, while Cavani – on at half-time – scored with a diving header off a Fernandes shot before heading home an injury-time Marcus Rashford cross to claim a win for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
United have now come from behind to win nine Premier League games against Southampton – only the Red Devils themselves have won more from behind against an opponent in the competition.
Southampton have won each of their last three Premier League home games, winning 2-0 each time.
