CAR PM Announces Resignation on Twitter

Firmin Ngrebada, the prime minister of the Central African Republic (CAR), has announced on Twitter that he and his government have resigned.
A presidential spokesperson, Albert Yaloke Mokpeme, told the AFP news agency that the prime minister might be asked to stay in the role and form a new government.
Earlier this week, France suspended budgetary aid and military cooperation with the CAR government.
CAR has been unstable for decades but was plunged into serious turmoil in 2013 when predominately Muslim rebels seized power and Christian militias rose to counter them.
Despite an UN-backed transition, there have recently been clashes between a coalition of fighters and the army, which is supported by the UN and Russian military companies.
