After two years off, the UK’s MOBO Awards are back, with seven Nigerians, including Burna Boy, Wizkid and Tiwa Savage leading nominations in the Best International and African Act categories.
Representing Nigeria, Burna Boy and Rema were nominated in the Best International Act category. They’ll face stiff competition from Drake, Megan Thee Stallion, the late Pop Smoke, Lil Baby, Popcaan, Shenseea, H.E.R and Roddy Ricch.
Both stars were nominated again in the Best African Act category alongside Wizkid, Davido, Fireboy DML, Adekunle Gold, Tiwa Savage, Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale.
The 2020 Music of Black Origin honours black music from all corners of the world. It will be hosted by Maya Jama and Chunkz and will be be shown on 9 December 2020 on BBC One and YouTube.
Headie One & M Huncho, Ms Banks, Tiwa Savage and Kojey Radical have been announced as performers.
MOBO founder Kanya King said it’s “more important than ever” to “continue the rich history of showcasing the very best of black music and culture.”
