Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari finally addressed citizens who have been clamouring for a reaction to the #EndSARS protests and the subsequent hijacking by hoodlums.
He comdemned the spread of deliberate falsehoods and misinformation, particularly on social media, that the government is oblivious to the pains of the people, to mislead the unwary within and outside the country.
“I am indeed definitely pained that innocent lives have been lost,” he said.
He continued: “We shall continue to ensure that liberty and freedom, as well as the fundamental rights of all citizens are protected but remember, this government also has an obligation to protect lives and properties, as well as the right of citizens to go about the daily businesses freely and protected.”
