Buhari, Aisha Condole with Obaigbena Family as Princess Margaret Is Laid to Rest Saturday

The Royal family of Princess Margaret Obaigbena (Nee Usifoh) who lost their matriarch on June 16th, 2022, have received a letter of condolence from President Muhammadu Buhari and his wife, Dr. Mrs. Aisha Buhari.

Princess Margaret, died at the age of 88, after a brief illness. The five children left behind by Princess Margaret include Prince Nduka Obaigbena, chairman and editor-in-chief of the THISDAY/ARISE Media Group.

President Muhammudu Buhari in his letter of condolence to her family expressed his genuine dismay, saying her presence will surely be missed by many.
He said; “I commiserate with you, members of your family and the entire people of Delta State on the loss of your mother, Princess Margaret, a pillar of strength for the family, an accomplished mother and revered community leader, whose absence will be felt far beyond her immediate environment”.
In light of the life she lived, President Buhari consoled the bereaved, assuring them she lived a life of impact worthy of celebrating.
In his words, “The demise of Princess will no doubt create a great vacuum in the community. I therefore urge the family to take solace in the understanding that she lived her passion by caring for the distressed and disadvantaged.

“I salute her steadfast disposition to servicing mankind, beginning early in life and reaching the peak of the nursing profession, channelling her energy and resources to the realisation of lofty convictions.”

He further addressed the people of Edo and Delta states, sending his condolences as he believes her loss will not just affect her family, but the society at large.
“I use this opportunity to condole with the government and people of Edo and Delta states on the loss of the illustrious citizen who contributed immensely to the development of the two states.

“Her role as Special Adviser to three Governors of Delta State will remain indelible in the annals of the State.”

Additionally, the first lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Dr. Mrs. Aisha Buhari, writes on behalf of the nation, offering her “condolences and sympathies during this difficult time.”

She also pronounced blessings and offered the bereaved family her best wishes.
She said;, “In this period of grief, I and the people of Nigeria mourn with you and the Royal Family of Owa Kingdom. May the good God grant you and the entire family the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss and the wisdom to oversee the affairs of the entire family. Please, accept my sincere condolences and best wishes.”

During her time on earth Princess Margaret held the position of chief nursing officer for Bendel State. Additionally, she served as a special advisor to three prior governors of Delta State.
