British Airways has revealed its newly renovated and luxurious lounge at Lagos airport after a six-month refurbishment project. The revamped space aims to provide customers with an upgraded food and beverage experience, alongside showcasing local Nigerian art from Akoje Gallery.
Spanning 360 square meters, the lounge has been meticulously designed to cater to different customer needs, offering zones for relaxation, dining, and work. Customers entering the lounge will be greeted by a contemporary ambiance, highlighted by floor-to-ceiling glass architecture.
The lounge boasts of a self-serve dining area with a diverse selection of freshly made dishes, blending Nigerian classics with British-inspired cuisine. A newly constructed bar offers a variety of drinks, including cocktails, wine, and soft beverages, while First Class passengers are entitled to champagne and canapes.
To celebrate British Airways’ strong ties with Nigeria, the lounge proudly exhibits art from local artists curated by Akoje Gallery. The inaugural exhibition, themed ‘New Beginnings,’ showcases works by artists such as Olawunmi Banjo, Qozeem Abdul Rahman, and Steve Ekpenisi.
The lounge offers a serene quiet room with day beds, alongside a main area furnished with cozy sofas and tables for relaxation. For those needing to work, new printing facilities are available.
Calum Laming, British Airways’ Chief Customer Officer, expressed excitement about the lounge’s opening as he said, “We’re focused on investing in the entire customer journey, not just on board. For many of our customers, lounges are an important part of their experience, and the re-design of our Lagos lounge is a key part of our transformation strategy across our lounges around the world.
We’re delighted to open our doors to this stunning lounge in Lagos and we’re confident customers will enjoy spending time in this cleverly created space.”
Khalil Akar, from The Akoje Gallery, shared his enthusiasm for the partnership with British Airways, saying, “We are honoured to partner with British Airways and give local Nigerian artists the chance to showcase their talents in the brand-new Lagos Lounge. We hope British Airways passengers enjoy the immersion in Nigerian culture and the artists’ contribution to their local art community.”
The lounge is accessible to customers traveling in Club World (business) and First Class, as well as Silver and Gold Executive Club Members.
