Breaking: Nigeria Triples Electricity Tariff For 15% Of Customers, Implements N225/kWh

Nigeria’s revised electricity tariff primarily targets consumers enjoying 20 hours of supply, sparing many previously classified as Band A customers.

The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has announced the implementation of a new electricity tariff, effective immediately, targeting approximately 15% of the customer population.

The revised rate is now brought to 225 naira per kilowatt-hour as against the previous 68-naira price.

The Vice Chairman of Market Competition Rates, Musiliu Oseni in a press briefing, clarified that the adjustment primarily affects customers who have consistently enjoyed an average of 20 hours of electricity supply.

Notably, many customers previously categorized as Band A customers will remain unaffected by the rate review.Details later…
